ACHIEVEMENTS

Professor Dhindsa was awarded Fulbright Scholarship in 1990 and the same year he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London. National Environment Science Academy (India) conferred its Fellowship  on him in 2002. He achieved the zenith of his career when National Environmental Science Academy bestowed upon him “The Best Scientist of the Year Award” for the year 2003.

Professor Dhindsa was decorated with ‘Dr. Ambedkar National Sevaashri Award’ for distinguished services to science and society. His contributions in the field of pure and applied chemistry have been recognized and honoured in the form of several prestigious national and international awards. He received Gift Instruments from the President, Federal Republic of Germany and the Hanover University for his original researches. He has the privilege of being the first scientist of Haryana to have been decorated with ‘Indian National Science Academy Award’ in 1976 by the then Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi. In 1996, he received the ‘Gian Chand Jain Memorial Award of Excellence in Scientific Research’, and Prof. P.K. Bose Memorial Award’ of the Indian Chemical Society. The year 2008 added two more prestigious awards to his already long list. These were ‘Vigyan Rattan Award’ by Dayanand Brahma Mahavidyalaya and ‘Shiksha Ratna Puraskar’ by  India International Friendship Society. In 2009, he received the coveted ‘Bharat Gaurav Award’. This award was conferred on him by Mrs. Shiela Dixit, Chief Minister of Delhi in recognition of his services to the cause of  education, especially for his role in promotion of technical and professional education. His commitment to secularism was recognized and rewarded in the form of Rashtriya Ekta Samman which was bestowed upon him by the Union Minister State for Home Affairs Sh. Ajay Maken on Aug 19, 2009 on the eve of 66th Birth Anniversary of Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. In 2010, Vedic Sanskriti Kendra, Hisar decorated Dr. Dhindsa with honorary degree of Vedic Rattan in recognition of his contribution to Chemistry and Vedic Culture. He also had the privilege of sharing dinner with President Bill Clinton (2001). He is a fellow of various National Academies and has been associated with academic bodies of various universities in the country.
